Unlike the crisp roastiness of a Schwarzbier, Czech Dark Lager emphasizes bread crust and caramel flavors.

To replicate the traditional decoction mash, we used Weyermann Melanoidin Malt to achieve a rich and full-bodied mouthfeel without being too heavy.

A precise blend of Thomas Fawcett Pale Chocolate and Simpsons Black Malt creates a deep garnet color without the strong bitterness found in stouts.

This allows cocoa and toast nuances to spread.

To tighten the rich malt character, we used German Magnum hops for a clean and stable bitterness, layering herbal aromas from Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnanger noble hops.

Fermentation with traditional German lager yeast results in a complex yet surprisingly drinkable beer.

Despite its dark color, the aftertaste is crisp and clean, making you want another glass.
