Note) A Northeast-style IPA is characterized by its hazy appearance and juiciness, which caused a major boom in 2016. Its main characteristic is its "hazy" appearance, originating from the New England region of the northeastern United States.

Some people might associate hazy beer with poor quality, but in reality, the pale ales and IPAs we commonly drink were originally hazy.

The beautiful, clear liquid we see when pouring beer into a glass is due to the filtration of fine impurities that would otherwise make the beer hazy during the manufacturing process.

While "impurities" might be a misnomer, they are the yeast and hop residues used in the beer-making process.

Of course, if they remain for too long, they can darken the beer's color and alter its taste. However, filtration also leads to the loss of a very small amount of the fruity hop aroma, which is part of the appeal of IPAs.

By not filtering, these East Coast style beers achieve a smooth and creamy mouthfeel, suppressing hop bitterness and instead imparting a tropical, juicy sweetness reminiscent of fruit juice.
