Fermented using wild yeast and oak barrels, with raspberries and blueberries added, it has a fruity, sweet and sour taste and a gentle flavor of wooden barrels.
Released in February 2018, the wildly popular Sour Rosé has sold out in multiple states and is now making its debut in a can.
Sour Rosé is fermented using Crooked Stave's own mixed culture wild yeast and bacteria, then fermented in an oak hooder with raspberries and blueberries.
It is then aged for at least 12 weeks before being canned.
Sour Rosé will be the first beer in the world to be 100% mixed culture fermented, 100% primary fermented and barrel aged and released in a can.
Crooked Stave owner and brewmaster Chad Yakobson hopes to popularize Brettanomyces by making Sour Rosé available in cans and making it available to more people.
This is a product unique to Crooked Stave, a company that continues to innovate by sharing ideas in an open environment.
Floral aromas and sweet and sour berry scents waft from the glass.
The taste, like the aroma, is floral and has the sweet and sour notes of raspberry and blueberry, mixed with a fresh lemon-like flavor, herbal and oak flavors, and a slight funkiness (note).
It has a medium body and a smooth mouthfeel.
A refreshing drink with a very dry and crisp finish.
Although it is unfiltered, it is shipped with a small amount of yeast added to maintain maximum freshness.
This product is released year-round as part of the "Barrel Aged Provision" series, and is a beer that allows you to fully experience Crooked Stave's capabilities.
