Fermented using wild yeast and oak barrels, with raspberries and blueberries added. The fruity, sweet-and-sour acidity and woody barrel aroma gently spread.
Released in February 2018, the hugely popular Sour Rosé, which sold out in multiple states, makes its debut as a canned product.
Sour Rosé is primary fermented using Crooked Stave's original mixed culture wild yeast and bacteria, then aged in oak foeders with raspberries and blueberries added for fermentation.
It is then aged for over 12 weeks before being canned.
This Sour Rosé is the first in the world to be released as a canned product that is 100% mixed culture fermented, and 100% primary fermented and barrel-aged.
Chad Yakobson, owner and brewmaster of Crooked Stave, hopes to spread Brettanomyces by making Sour Rosé available in cans, allowing more people to enjoy it.
This product is truly characteristic of Crooked Stave, which continues to innovate by sharing ideas in an open environment.
Floral aromas and sweet-and-sour berry scents waft from the glass.
The flavor, like the aroma, has a floral quality and the sweet and sourness of raspberries and blueberries, mixed with a refreshing lemon-like tartness, notes of herbs and oak barrel, and a subtle funkiness (note).
The body is medium, with a smooth mouthfeel.
A refreshing drink with a very dry and crisp finish.
Although unfiltered, a small amount of yeast is added before shipping to maintain maximum freshness.
This beer is released year-round as part of the "Barrel-Aged Provision" series, allowing you to fully appreciate Crooked Stave's capabilities.
Note: Refers to a distinctive aroma and flavor reminiscent of a farm or barn.
