A rich, smoky Scotch ale made with seven types of malt.

It is the No. 1 selling Scotch ale in the United States and a staple product that has defined the brewery's "Brewed for Us" spirit.

Made using seven types of malt, it has a rich and intense flavor with a hint of peat/smoky aroma and hop bitterness.

A masterpiece beer worthy of the name Dirty Bastard.

First released in 2000, it was one of the beers that sparked the "Extreme Beer" boom.

In 2000, three years after its founding, Founders was on the brink of bankruptcy.

The landlord had warned them that if they didn't pay their rent within a week, he would chain the door and lock them out, and it seemed like he hadn't paid his national taxes for some time.

They had failed.

But failure can sometimes make people reckless and defiant.

Co-founders Mike Engbers and Dave Stevens were so desperate that they decided, "If we're going to go bankrupt anyway, then let's make a beer that we ourselves would want to drink."

They stopped brewing the pale ale, amber ale, and wheat ale that they had been brewing up until then, and instead brewed a Scotch ale called "Dirty Bastard" with an alcohol content of 8.5%.

From then on, the company's reputation grew rapidly, and it was able to avoid the threat of bankruptcy.

When poured into a glass, it is dark ruby in color with a dark brown head.

The aroma is dominated by malts such as caramel, dark fruit, raisins and toffee, with a hint of citrus.

On the palate, the sensual sweetness of the malt hits you, followed by notes of toffee, plum and tobacco smoke.

The finish is smoky and bitter with a slight alcohol warmth.

“Many people fall in love with Dirty Bastard even if they don’t know anything about the Scotch Ale style (Scotch Ale is a strong ale that is said to have originated in Edinburgh, Scotland in the 19th century. It is also known as Wee Heavy. It is generally a full-bodied beer with a deep copper-brown to brown color and a roasted malt flavor).

If you like bold, intense flavors," says Dave.

This is the brewery's third most popular product after All Day IPA and Centennial IPA, and is a masterpiece that embodies Founders' attitude towards beer brewing.
