Beer aged in Mezcal and Bitters barrels, with lime zest added. A refreshing, salty, and tart taste, like a Mezcalita cocktail.

Eric, the Barrel Program Manager at Firestone Walker, had been harboring an idea for several years: to create a beer inspired by the Mezcalita cocktail (a margarita-like cocktail that uses mezcal instead of tequila), which he had been introduced to by a Mexican friend a few years prior and couldn't forget.

Now, he has finally brought in mezcal barrels from Oaxaca, the sacred land of mezcal, to realize this beer.

The base beer was brewed with agave, chili peppers, and sea salt.

This was then aged in mezcal barrels and orange bitters barrels, blended, and finally infused with lime zest.

The result is a blended beer that perfectly recreates the traditional Mezcalita cocktail!
