Hops are used within 24 hours of harvest, bursting with fresh flavors of citrus flowers, rose, and pine.
Sierra Nevada's specialty line, the Harvest series, is brewed using a variety of hops and hopping methods to showcase the flavor of their specialty whole hops (fresh hops).
Because they deal directly with hop farmers, they are able to use a variety of prototypes and new varieties of hops each year before they are released on the market.
It would be no exaggeration to say that this series could only have been created by Sierra Nevada.
"Northern Hemisphere," which means "northern hemisphere," is an IPA made using only wet hops (note) from Yakima, Washington, that are harvested within 24 hours of being harvested.
This results in a finish that is packed with herbal, green flavors, citrus, and floral aromas.
Born in 1996, it was one of the first wet-hopped IPAs in craft beer history, and had a strong influence on many similar beers that followed.
It has an amber color and an off-white head.
On the tongue, flavors of fresh hops burst with citrus flowers, rose and pine.
Enjoy this Wet Hop IPA that only Sierra Nevada can make.
Note: Wet hops refers to hops that have not been dried and are less than 24 hours old.
Considering that it would take about nine hours to drive from Yakima to San Francisco, it gives you an idea of how difficult it is to produce this beer.
By the way, the definition of fresh hops, which has a similar meaning to wet hops, is "dried hops that have been harvested within the last 7 days."
