When Steve Wagner, Stone's co-founder and first brewmaster, first brewed Stone IPA, he had no way of knowing.

While the three letters "IPA" are now recognized among beer fans, when Stone IPA appeared on the craft beer scene in 1997, most people questioned what IPA stood for.
