The first in the 2023 fan-vote re-release series is the original Ruination IPA, a reproduction of the 2002 recipe coveted by Stone fans! Ruination is known as the world's first West Coast Double IPA to be regularly sold as a packaged product. Its overwhelming bitterness and body sparked both praise and criticism (though mostly criticism, it seems) among beer geeks at the time.

The aroma is like pine resin mixed with citrus.

Upon tasting, there's an intense resinous character from the hops and a light malt flavor, followed by a hint of alcohol warmth, and a long, intensely lingering bitterness that lasts until the finish.
