A popular product that is often brought back as a limited edition due to its popularity. Recreates the taste of Mexican hot chocolate using chocolate, coffee, vanilla, nutmeg, and cinnamon.

The Mocha Stout, which caused a sensation when it was first brewed in 2014, is back again this year! Stone's seasonal product lineup consists of the "Seasonal" series with standard alcohol content and the "Imperial Seasonal" series with higher alcohol content and a rich flavor, with releases from each series every season.

Stone Xocoveza is a product from the latter, the Imperial Seasonal series.

Originally, this beer was born from a collaboration between Chris Banker, a true San Diegan and champion of the American Homebrewers Association's homebrew contest, Cervecería Insurgente from Tijuana, Mexico, across the border, and Stone.

Within a few months of its release, it quickly gained popularity, with many bottle shops selling out.

Due to its overwhelming popularity and wonderful taste, many voices called for "Xocoveza to be brewed again," and Stone responded by bringing it back.

The concept of this stout has not changed from Chris Banker's homebrew recipe.

It recreates the taste of Mexican hot chocolate (Note 2) using cocoa, coffee, pasilla peppers (Note 1), cinnamon, and nutmeg.

The coffee used is from Mostra Coffee in San Diego, and the cocoa is from ChocoVivo in Southern California.

The sweetness, earthiness, and spiciness of Mexican hot chocolate will surely warm you up.

Like a stout, it has a black color with a dark brown head.

The aroma first reveals clear cinnamon, cocoa, and coffee, followed by nutmeg and pepper.

As the beer warms, the combination of flavors becomes more pronounced, with cocoa and vanilla also becoming discernible.

The flavors of cocoa and cinnamon are prominent, followed by coffee, nutmeg and vanilla, and a fruity and peppery spiciness on the finish.

It is full-bodied, yet very smooth and creamy with a light bitterness.

The good thing about this beer is that it can be aged.

Over time, the malt flavor becomes more prominent and the nuances of cocoa and coffee become more pronounced.

Enjoy plenty of fresh Xocoveza during the winter season, and then savor the beautifully aged flavors from spring onwards.

¡Felices Fiestas! Note 1) A dried chili pepper spice from a long variety of chili peppers. Note 2) A common drink in Southern California made with hot chocolate, nutmeg, cinnamon, and chili.
