Pawpaw is the name of a fruit.

It has the appearance of a green potato, with a subtle hint of banana, mango custard, vanilla, and citrus flavors.

Despite being one of the largest fruits native to America, most Americans are said to be unaware of its existence.

Incidentally, George Washington, the first president known as the "Father of the United States," and Thomas Jefferson, the third president, are known to have been pawpaw enthusiasts.

Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, the captain and lieutenant of the "Lewis and Clark Expedition," the first expedition of white Americans formed under Jefferson's instructions, also enjoyed eating them.

Based on these facts, the pawpaw was named "Patriotic Paw Paw," combining the idea of it being "True American" with the word "Patriotic."
