As its name suggests, Citra Pale Ale is a beer where Citra hops take center stage, characterized by the crisp grapefruit aroma derived from the hops and the juicy aroma of tropical fruits.

It's a flagship product that debuted in 2017 with a new recipe, replacing "Upslope Pale Ale," the first product created at Upslope's founding.

Regarding the decision to replace the brewery's first product with a new one, co-founder Matt Cutter states that it "came from our creativity and the conclusion of our experimentation."

According to him, "This Citra Pale Ale represents the refinement of our skills, our continued focus on the future, and our response to fan demand."

The recipe for Citra Pale Ale is based on the Citra Pale Ale/IPA that was jointly brewed with homebrewer John Primozic as a pro/am beer for the GABF (Great American Beer Festival) in 2014.

This Citra Pale Ale/IPA was extremely popular in the taproom, so the recipe was refined and born as Citra Pale Ale.

Head brewer Sam Scruby says, "The toasty malt flavors and hop aromas of apricot and grapefruit create this easy-drinking beer."

The refreshing aroma of grapefruit is joined by the juicy, clean aroma of orange and citrus, with a subtle hint of caramel-like sweetness derived from the malt.

The flavor starts with grapefruit, followed by orange, citrus, and floral notes, with nutty malt supporting the overall profile.

It's a light-bodied, easy-drinking beer with a clean, crisp finish.
