The world's best barrel-aged stout, which has been sending beer geeks into a frenzy even before its release date One beer that has been described as having a "cult following" and is particularly known to drive beer geeks crazy is Kentucky Breakfast Stout, also known as KBS.
Breakfast Stout is a limited edition beer made with chocolate and coffee, aged for a year in Kentucky bourbon barrels.
In the United States, the enthusiasm is so great that people line up not only at breweries but also at retail stores, staying overnight to buy the beer.
KBS sleeps in bourbon barrels deep underground in a cave about 85 feet (about 25 meters) below ground level.
The aging cellar, which was originally a cave used for gypsum mining, is said to be the largest barrel aging project in the United States.
Aging at the optimum temperature created by nature results in a sweet, nutty flavor and an incredibly smooth mouthfeel.
The brewery suggests that the best way to enjoy the beer is to decant the KBS at room temperature (around 15°C), let it air out, and then drink it from a brandy glass.
Bursting with aromas of roasted coffee, cafe latte, milk chocolate, vanilla, oak and bourbon.
When you put it in your mouth, the roasted flavor, sweetness, and slight hop bitterness spread in your mouth in an exquisite balance.
Full bodied and silky smooth on the palate.
A long finish with the warmth of bourbon, alcohol and a slight malt sweetness.
In 2014, it was selected as the best beer in the world by the beer review website Ratebeer.
It has also received a perfect score of 100 from beeradvocate, making it the best beer in the world that impresses even the most avid beer geeks.
