Freshness, sweetness and fruitiness perfectly balanced by oak barrel aging.
This Sour Ale from Almanac's canned sour series "Sournova" (note) is brewed with blackberries and vanilla beans.
Aged for several months in oak barrels, the finished product is a masterfully blended flavor of blackberry tartness and oak barrel aroma.
Authentic mixed-fermentation, barrel-aged beer, now available fresh in a can.
When poured into a glass, the fresh aroma of blackberries overflows, and the fruity aroma and subtle hint of oak barrel are pleasant.
The flavor also has a strong blackberry presence, with a subtle sweetness from the vanilla.
The fruity sweet and sour taste and the sweetness of vanilla are exquisitely balanced.
It has a medium body and a clean, dry finish.
The lingering oak flavor makes it an easy-drinking, refreshing beer.
Note: While kettle sours are almost exclusively used for canned sour beers, Almanac, with its "Farm to Barrel" motto, insists on using real fruit and barrel aging.
All Sournova series beers use real fruit and oak barrels.
