Creamy and smooth to drink, with a solid body and a great taste that is said to be America's best stout.
"Old No. 38" is a 64 km long railroad from Fort Bragg to Willits, California, originally built to transport lumber.
Due to the beautiful scenery along the line, it has now become a popular tourist railway.
The name is taken from an old steam locomotive known as the "Skunk Train" that was in service on the New York Stock Exchange.
(No. 38 was demolished and no longer exists.
) Style is dry stout.
It has a creamy and smooth taste and a solid body despite its 5.4% alcohol content.
It has an aroma and flavor reminiscent of toasty roasted malt, espresso coffee, bitter chocolate, and dark fruit.
The subtle malty sweetness is apparent, with a dry and refreshing finish.
This is a masterpiece with a wonderful flavor that world-renowned beer critic Michael Jackson described as "without a doubt the best stout in America."
