Title

"Anyone who says they don't like beer just hasn't tried the right one yet."
This is the philosophy that guides Smog City Brewing's craft beer production.
Based on this philosophy, their craft beers, produced with high brewing技術, are of high quality in all styles, including IPAs. They have gained support from a wide range of local beer lovers and continue to grow steadily.

A unique brewery
where beer lovers
of all styles gather

Founder Jonathan Porter spent six years working at several local Los Angeles breweries, where he managed beverage service, washed kegs, and served as an assistant brewer and then head brewer.

He began brewing beer using the facilities at Tustin Brewing, where he worked as head brewer, even before Smog City Brewing had its own permanent location.

During this time, his wife Laurie supported him by delivering beer to local restaurants and bars in Los Angeles, often with their then two-year-old son in tow.

As production grew more than they had imagined in the year that followed, they opened a brewery and taproom in Torrance, California, in May 2013.

Typically, many breweries become famous for their flagship beers.

However, Smog City Brewing is a truly unique brewery because it attracts a diverse range of fans, including those who love sours, bourbon barrel-aged beers, and traditional classic styles.

Supported by these fans, the Porter couple's experience and hard work have created a distinctive lineup of craft beers.

"If you don't like beer,
you just haven't had the right one yet."
Leading the community with outstanding skill
based on this belief.

In 2017, they opened their second Smog City taproom at SteelCraft, an outdoor food hall made from recycled shipping containers. There, you can enjoy Smog City's fresh beers with a variety of foods under the bright blue skies of Los Angeles.

In 2019, they opened their third taproom within the Glendora Public Market.

Porter's exceptional balance and skill in brewing creative beers have made him a leader in the Los Angeles craft beer community.

"If someone says they don't like beer, they just haven't had the right one yet."

This is his belief.

His wife, Laurie, now handles all operations, from sales and public relations to taproom management and financial administration.

Beyond Smog City Brewing, she is actively and socially involved in revitalizing the Los Angeles craft brewery scene, serving on the boards of several organizations, including the California Craft Brewers Association.

In 2021, Smog City celebrated its 10th anniversary. They have revamped their core item packaging and continue to brew flavorful craft beers in every style. Their continued progress is worth watching.
