It's time to ROCK!
Recently we received a few new beers from Stone that will leave you thrashing about.
Collective Distortion IPA is a collaboration brew that Stone did with Kyle Hollingsworth, the funky drummer from The String Cheese Incident and Keri Kelli, the hard rocking the wailing rock guitarist of Alice Cooper fame. This 9.3% Imperial IPA is ably backed by Nugget, Comet and Calypso hops, and amplified by a healthy dry-hopping with Vic's Secret, a new Australian hop, adding citrus and tropical fruit oomph. To give this modern masterpiece some soulful, classic character, we traced the roots of brewing to the days when Old World herbs were used to spice beers, adding in coriander and, a first for us, elderberries. Sit back, crank the volume and get lost in this operatic incarnation of genres combined in the name of invention.
Smoked Porter with Chipotle is a modern twist on one of Stone's classic beers. Originally suggested back in 2006 by Chris Carrol, a long-time member of the Stone crew, this beer has turned in to an annual Spring release. The smoldery peat-smoked malt that gives this beer its characteristic flavor blends perfectly with the smoked jalapenos to give it a tasteful capsaicin heat in the finish. At 5.9% ABV and 53 IBU, this beer serves as an artisinal alternative to the industrialized adjunct-laden cerveza billed as the perfect fluid accompaniment to the sunny season. Cheers to variety and a quality alternative to mediocrity.
We've also got a beer from Coronado Brewing Company gracing our taps for the first time.
